1. Overview & Client-Side Architecture

EduPlan ("we", "our", or "the application") is committed to protecting your privacy. EduPlan is engineered as a client-side Single Page Application (SPA). Your coursework tasks, deadlines, course syllabi, focus sessions, and study logs are stored locally in your web browser using HTML5 LocalStorage and are never transmitted to unauthorized third-party servers.

2. Data Collection & Local Storage

We do not require you to provide sensitive personal identification to use our study planner. Data stored locally on your device includes:

  • Academic Tasks: Assignment names, descriptions, priorities, and deadline dates/times.
  • Course Catalog: Subject titles, weekly target hours, and accumulated study time.
  • Pomodoro Focus Sessions: Total completed study intervals and streak counts.
  • Interface Preferences: Color theme selection (Nordic Dark vs Academic Light) and cookie consent status.

3. Direct Support & Affiliate Partner Disclosures

EduPlan operates on a zero-cost, privacy-first model supported directly by user contributions (tip jar) and curated educational affiliate partnerships. We do not use third-party behavioral advertising networks or tracking cookies.

  • Affiliate Links: Some recommended courses or student resources may contain direct affiliate links. If you purchase through these links, EduPlan may earn a small referral commission at zero additional cost to you.
  • No Third-Party Ad Trackers: We do not load third-party ad tracking scripts (e.g., Google AdSense, DoubleClick) or sell your browsing activity to advertisers.

4. GDPR & CCPA Privacy Rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you retain the right to access, export, or delete any information stored by the application:

  • Right to Export: You can export a complete JSON copy of your coursework and study logs at any time using the "Backup Data" button in the Tasks workspace.
  • Right to Erasure: Clearing your browser cookies and local storage immediately permanently removes all EduPlan records from your machine.

5. Terms of Service

By accessing EduPlan, you agree to use the application for lawful educational and personal productivity purposes. The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied.
